Douarnenez boasts no less than 4 ports. It’s a town of many fishermen’s cottages, lively quaysides and beautiful walks along the bay and Ile Tristan.
Port Rhu
Port Rhu was once considered the commercial center of the sardine trade. Today, Port Rhu is partly a museum of old boats and partly a marina. You can also visit the cemetery for old wooden boats, as well as construction and renovation yards.
Tristan Island
This small island opposite Port Rhu, in the Bay of Douarnenez, has often served as a defensive base. It is accessible on foot, depending on the tides. Today, a lighthouse stands on this island in southern Brittany.
Campsite Douarnenez
As a well-known destination in Brittany, it’s not surprising to find a large number of Concarneau campsites close to Douarnenez. Our family campsite is just a 50-minute drive from this destination. This makes it a good starting point for exploring Douarnenez and the surrounding area.
