It is the first museum in France to focus on fishing techniques from around the world, from shipbuilding to fish preservation. <\/p>\n\n<p>The museum&#8217;s oldest buildings date back to the 16th century and include a chapel and barracks, which became a local school, then a fishing school and finally a marine cooperative.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the Museum&#8217;s early years, <strong>from 1961 to 1970<\/strong>, <strong>donations from local people<\/strong> were the mainstay of its collections. In its first year, it welcomed 12,000 visitors, and today receives <strong>between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors every year<\/strong>. The <strong>1500 m\u00b2<\/strong> <strong>Mus\u00e9e de la P\u00eache de Concarneau<\/strong> features boats, models, aquariums, showcases, videos and all kinds of objects from the daily life of fishermen, to answer all your questions about fishing, shipbuilding and fish preservation.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>In 2003<\/strong>, the Mus\u00e9e de la P\u00eache was awarded the<strong>&#8220;Mus\u00e9e de France&#8221; designation,<\/strong> bringing it recognition from the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, as well as greater identification for the public.
